I left around 8:00 after enjoying a good breakfast to face the day's big challenge... On the way, I bartered with a woman. I gave her soap and other things from the hotel in exchange for three mangoes.

I know the road won't be easy today, because seven years ago I rented a Jeep to travel 160 km and it took four hours. Today I plan to do 100 km in six hours. The road is breathtaking.

I lost two screws holding my pedals. I finally understand the expression "losing my mind"... Luckily, a Cuban man helped me put everything back on. I gave him 5 CUC (125 CUP). The man was very happy!
Then I go for a swim in a spot by the side of the road. After my little swim, I realize I have a flat tire.
Luckily, I asked passersby if "el ponchero," meaning the tire repairman, lived nearby. As luck would have it, he did. Here's an incredible little video! Cubans are so resourceful!

He fixed five flat tires for me. I gave him 10 CUC (250 CUP). He was overjoyed...

After 500 meters, I got another flat tire. I've learned over time that I need to stay away from the thorns that are often along the roadside. I'm learning! The roads are practically nonexistent.

I've finally arrived in Marea del Portillo and I'm resting after this long day!

I go to bed very early... Mission accomplished.
If you can't find the way, forge your own path!
